Moira is Executive Director and Co-founder of Empowered by Light. She regularly blogs about health, wellness, and nutrition, and designed and manages a school-wide waste reduction program. Moira worked more than a decade in corporate communications and government and community relations roles for a Fortune 50 company. She also has nearly 20 years of combined experience serving on the boards of nonprofit organizations. Moira has supported several Bay Area-based non-profits including WildAid, the Marine Mammal Center, and Global Green’s San Francisco Committee.
Marco Krapels – Co-Founder
Marco was Tesla’s vice president of international expansion, solar & batteries. He also co-founded The Solutions Project, a U.S.-based nonprofit focused on accelerating the transition to a 100% renewable energy economy. Previously, Marco was an executive vice president with Rabobank, where he initiated notable sustainability efforts, including a Rabobank solar/electric car project featured in The New York Times. He is a frequent panel speaker at renewable energy forums. Most recently, Marco co-produced Leonardo DiCaprio’s and Fisher Steven’s new film, “Before the Flood.”
Gianluca Signorelli – Co-Founder
Gianluca focuses on the growth of clean energy infrastructure by financing residential, commercial, and utility-scale clean energy systems at NRG Energy. Previously, he led clean energy finance at Rabobank, N.A., the U.S. commercial arm of the Rabobank group. He also served as an economist at the U.S. Treasury Department, working to advance development and economic relations with emerging-market and low-income nations in Asia and Latin America. He attended Stanford University (B.A.), Johns Hopkins University SAIS (M.A.), and Wharton (MBA).
Patrick Crane – Board Member
Patrick is a 16-year marketing veteran, building hi-tech businesses and brands on three continents. Born and raised in the UK, Patrick started at Vodafone after graduating from Huddersfield University. Patrick co-founded the Laura Crane Trust to fund research into teenage cancer. He then joined Vodafone Australia, where he led the launch of the country’s first wireless internet service. He joined the Global Product team at Vodafone US. In 2003, Patrick joined Yahoo!, leading various marketing divisions. In 2007, he joined LinkedIn as chief marketing officer, leading marketing and communications for four of LinkedIn’s hyper-growth years, helping LinkedIn expand around the world and become a multi-billion-dollar public company. Most recently, Patrick led the Network Group at Sungevity, encompassing marketing, sales, remote solar design, and product management.
Ellen Morris, Ph.D. – Board Member
Ellen is the president and founder of Sustainable Energy Solutions, a professional services company that promotes the increased use and deployment of clean energy technologies and services. Ellen is also the director of academic programs on International Energy Management and Policy and Sustainable Energy Policy at the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs. In 2008, she founded Arc Finance, to promote access to end-user finance for modern energy. Since 1996, Ellen has been a senior consultant for the United Nations Development Programme on sustainable energy. She has also worked for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Ellen is on the board of Arc Finance, is a member of the United Nations Foundation Energy Access Practitioner Network, the United Nations Development Programme’s External Advisory Group, the advisory board of Earthspark International, and the advisory board of Simpa Networks. She has a doctorate in geological oceanography.
Leilani Munter - board member
Leilani Münter is a biology graduate, race car driver and environmental activist. Discovery's Planet Green named her the #1 eco athlete in the world, ELLE Magazine awarded her their Genius Award, and Sports Illustrated named her one of the top ten female race car drivers in the world. Since 2007, Leilani has adopted an acre of rainforest for every race she runs. She uses her race car to spread environmental awareness among millions of race fans in the US. Leilani sits on the board of the Oceanic Preservation Society, and is featured in their 2015 documentary "Racing Extinction." Leilani’s motto is: never underestimate a vegan hippie chick with a race car.
Manuel Offenberg – Board Member
Manuel is a security architect at Seagate Technology. He served as chief technology officer at Bizily, a San Francisco-based startup for SaaS-based customer development. Before that, he co-founded StartupSquare, an online service for starting entrepreneurs. He served as director of security engineering at Seagate, where he was instrumental in the launch of the world’s first self-encrypting hard drive. Manuel holds a master’s degree from the University of Groningen, Netherlands.
Michael Grossman – Board Member
As director of liquid assets, Michael is responsible for lending and fixed-income investing at New Island Capital. Previously, Michael managed Calvert Foundation’s international impact investing portfolio, and was a senior advisor to McKinsey & Company’s Social Sector Office focused on financial inclusion and inclusive agriculture development. Michael was managing director and Citigroup country officer in Tunisia, where he was responsible for day-to-day management of Citibank’s commercial and retail operations. He served as managing director and Citigroup country officer in Dakar, Senegal, and as senior operations officer in Casablanca, Morocco. Michael helped create Citibank’s West African regional corporate finance/capital markets business based in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. He holds an M.S. in finance from the MIT Sloan School of Management, and a B.S. from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. Michael is a Chevalier in Senegal’s National Order of the Lion.
Elizabeth "Licha" Lopez
Licha worked most recently in Business Development for Tesla Energy, prior to which, she supported the launch of SolarCity in Mexico. Before joining Solar City, Licha served as Senior Officer for Climate and Energy Programs at Partners of the Americas in Washington D.C. In that role, she facilitated clean energy investments in 19 countries in Latin America. Licha also has lobbying and advocacy experience to the U.S Congress, to Latin American countries regarding climate, energy efficiency, and in London to the Houses of Parliament. Licha holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and a Masters in Global Environmental Politics.
